Why our beef?
At Gracemere Farmstead we take our cues from natural systems and our cows do not eat grains. They eat grass, from our spray free paddocks, throughout their whole lives.
We make certain our grass fed and finished beef contains:
- NO antibiotics or hormone growth promotants
- NO chemicals or pesticides
- NO grain, gluten or preservatives
- NO GMO’s (genetically modified organisms) or routine vaccinations
What does 'grass-fed' and 'grass-finished' beef mean?
At Gracemere Farmstead our cattle are only fed grass from start to finish. Many “grass fed beef” farms will finish them on grain for the last couple of months. Many would not realise that the regulations do not require these farms to state that they use grains if in the last 88 days of the cows’ lives.
We do not feed grains at all as grains are a completely unnatural diet for cows and can negatively change the omegas in the fat of the animals.
Regenerative Farming
At Gracemere Farmstead we believe in regenerative farming. Regenerative farming is farming with nature to produce good whilst giving back to the land. With our cattle we use rotational grazing to run the animals as a herd, as they would in nature. This also improves the soil and pastures. It also sequesters carbon into the soil by using the grass and roots to photosynthesise and store energy in the roots and soil.
This means we are working with nature as an ecosystem rather than trying to dominate and plunder resources from it.

At Gracemere Farmstead we are passionate about Holistic Management. Holistic Management is a value-based, adaptive management, decision- making framework that integrates all aspects of planning for social, economic, and environmental considerations.
