The way we raise our chickens is different! Our pasture raised chickens are raised outdoors in moveable shelters (for their protection) which are moved onto fresh grass every day. They are fed organic feed which contains biochar ensuring better health for each chicken. I (Stephen) was at a talk recently by Dr David Nixon. He was speaking about the importance of charcoal for detoxing to remove some of the more ‘interesting’ elements building up in our bodies. I was thinking again of the importance of having the biochar in our organic chicken food. Healthier, happier chickens lead to a happier, healthy you.
I was reminded this week of a great quote from Joel Salatin (The USA farmer self-named
“the libertarian environmentalist capitalist lunatic farmer”) – “the shorter the chain between raw food and fork the fresher it is and the more transparent the system is”. And another “our animals (chickens) don’t do drugs. Instead, we move them almost daily in a tightly choreographed ballet from pasture spot to pasture spot. “
