Progress has been made by Chloe and Tahlia on their new state-of-the-art tree house. The girls have built the tree house by themselves and and enjoying the experience. The photos will tell the rest of the story. After all a picture is worth a thousand words.

We have planted seeds and seedlings for pumpkin vines over the years and while we have had some success at time our best vines have always been the wild vines that pop up in the strangest places (compost pumpkin vines or tomato plants anyone?). Sometimes our own pumpkin seedlings have died, struggled to fruit or been doing well until someone has eaten it aka. Our goats or cows. Our two most successful vines this year this year have been the two which sprung up in the garden in the middle of the driveway from our own compost. The vines took off and grew and grew!, We are still counting but so far we have harvested 30 pumpkins from the vines with 20 still growing.

We have been busy posing and smiling for a range of photos that were taken by an professional photographer and our own Bethany. We have been building up a bank of photos to showcase our farm, our produce and of course ourselves. Many of the photos will appear on our new and improved website which Bethany has been working on.

Late news flash!!
Yesterday, while moving the cows, Bethany discovered a very sweet surprise, 2 new calves!! Notice the big, floppy ears, no. 2 and 3 calf from Bruce II. The lighter calf is called Spot for the spot on his face. Any suggestions for naming the other heifer calf?

Tahlia’s reflection on the month:
Let me tell you about Sparkle and Daffodil. Sparkle our new, very big-eared, bovine addition to the farm and Daffodil is her mother. Daffodil has not had a calf since we had Bruce I (Bruce Bogtrotter the Bonkers Bull). It is funny because she had the first calf of Bruce I and the first calf of Bruce II (Bruce Bogtrotter the Bonkers Brahman Bull). I think she believes in only having one calf per bull.
The funny thing about Sparkle was that Daffodil hid her so well we could not find her for ages. All we found was the spot where Daffodil had birthed her calf. We only knew that is was the spot becuase I found the baby calf poo there. The funny thing though was that we found Daffodil, but no calf.
We were starting to think that the calf had not made it but one afternoon, three days after Sparkle was born, Dad decided to have another search around the farm and as he got over the hill he saw Daffodil and the calf! I went up to help Dad bring them home. I found out it was a girl and so I decided to name her Sparkle. As we were halfway down the hill it started to pour and
by the time we got back we were absolutly drenched.
Thanks a lot Sparkle!!
